Samuel J Lewis-Blanc was a Commissioned Officer in the British Army between 2013 - 2022. He served in The Royal Regiment of Artillery and deployed overseas to nine separate countries across four different continents, including an operational tour of Afghanistan and a role supporting RAF counter-Deash operations in Iraq & Syria.
His career defining position however was as the inaugural Continuity Liaison Officer to Turkish Forces for the United Nations during the period 2019 - 2021. During this time he lived with his family at the British Retained Site inside the United Nations Protected Area, formally known as Jubilee Camp - RAF Nicosia. Living within the literal and conceptual no-man’s land amongst the divided communities of Cyprus, in addition to being the principal liaison between the tactical level stakeholders of the Turkish Forces; UNFICYP; and the British Roulemount Regiments in Nicosia; Samuel was immersed in historical, cultural and present day struggles that routinely intwine, as well as exacerbate what is commonly referred to as: The Cyprus Problem.
